Sundry Sullen is the artist moniker of John Finnell, an analog collage artist and holistic medicine practitioner based in Oceanside, California. With a background in professional graphic design and an analog collage practice that began in 2005, his work brings together vintage as well as modern found imagery to explore emotion, transformation, and transcendence.

Finnell co-founded WAFA (We Are Fucking Awesome), an international artist collective active from 2006 to 2010. His work was included in Gestalten’s Cutting Edges: Contemporary Collage (2011) and featured in Collé (2025).

Through intuitive composition and unexpected visual relationships, his work creates otherworldly spaces where beauty and grit, order and chaos, and self and no-self coexist.
